BIOGRAPHY

Early life
Rupert Alexander Lloyd Grint was born on 24th August 1988 in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England, UK. His father, Nigel Grint once ran a Motor Car Racing Memorabilia Company and his mother, Joanne (nee Parsons) is a housewife. Rupert has one brother, James and three sisters, Georgina, Samatha and Charlotte. Before being cast as Harry potter's sidekick, Ron Weasley in 2001, Rupert had appeared in some school and local theatre productions. These were Noah's Ark, Cinderella and Rumpelstiltskin. At 16 he left his all boys school after taking his GCSE's to concentrate on his acting in the Harry Potter franchise.

Ron Weasley
Rupert auditioned for the part of Ron Weasley by sending in a video of himself rapping and doing hip hop saying why he should get the part, of course he did. He was told he had got the part with Emma Watson who plays Hermione Granger by Chris Columbus and David Heyman. Rupert has gone on to play Ron in all seven films, the seventh being filmed as this is being written.

Other Roles
After filming the first Harry Potter, Rupert got a role in 'Thunderpants', which was released in 2002. Rupert missed out in being in 'The Cinderella Story' in 2004 due to his committments to the Harry Potter Franchise. It clashed with the Harry Potter Prisoner of Azkaban filming schedule. After filming the fourth Harry Potter, Rupert starred in 'Driving Lessons' with his Harry Potter screen mother, Julie Walters. Rupert plays shy Ben Marshall. This film was released in 2006 and Rupert recieved praise from the critics for his role "riotous comedic timing" and "fantastic screen chemistry" with Julie Walters.

In 2010 Rupert is having 'Cherrybomb' and 'Wild Target' released. Cherrybomb is a completely different film from the world of Harry Potter. Playing Malachy in a gritty thriller about two teenagers who get into trouble when they both fall for a beautiful new girl in town. This sees Rupert tackle an Irish accent and a nude scene. Critical reviews have been very positive about his role. Wild Target is a remake of 1993 French film Cible Emouvante. Rupert plays Tony. The film also stars Bill Nighy and Emily Blunt.
